John Burr and Jim Magrogan Join Ownership Team
Miles Construction welcomes John Burr and Jim Magrogan, both long-term employees at the northern Nevada construction firm, to the ownership team. Founded by Bill Miles in 1986, the Carson City-based full-service general contracting firm has grown into a regional leader in commercial construction.
John Burr joined Miles Construction 16 years ago. His construction career began when he was a teen, working summer projects while attending high school. Upon graduation he entered the trades full time and became a journeyman carpenter foreman. After supervising crews for nearly a decade, Burr transitioned into becoming a highly trained project superintendent with an exemplary safety record. His project portfolio includes a wide range of high-end residential, commercial, industrial, retail, medical and school institution projects.
“John’s ability to lead, problem solve and manage every aspect of construction has not only served our company well but has ensured positive outcomes for our clients and projects,” Bill Miles, CEO, said.
Prior to joining Miles Construction, Jim Magrogan worked for one of the largest general contractors in the northern Nevada region as a director of project management. Before calling northern Nevada home, Magrogan worked in the San Francisco area for a nationally ranked general contractor specializing in high-rise residential construction and structural concrete. His experience includes design/build institutional projects for both federal and city entities, along with multiple private sector projects ranging in budget from $1 million to $125 million. As vice president of business operations at Miles Construction, he is responsible for working with multiple project teams from preconstruction through construction to turnover to the client. With his educational background in architecture and his MBA, Magrogan leads a project team efficiently and effectively, ensuring all project objectives – budget, schedule, safety, quality and sustainability – are achieved
“Both John and Jim are exactly who we want to see carry this company into the future,” Miles said. “They’ve both dedicated years of their careers with us and we have reaped the benefits of their hard work, expertise, and insights. The company and our employees stand to gain a lot with them as leaders.”
Miles Construction is currently seeing a boom in business, and despite supply chain disruptions and nation-wide labor shortages, managing to keep projects moving and completion dates on target.
“We’re seeing a large growth in the horticulture and advanced manufacturing sectors,” Cary Richardson, President said. “These industries are booming here in northern Nevada and beyond. With these structure changes in management, we are well poised to take on more of these large-scale projects to carry us and these industries into the future.”
