Building a Better Future
Although we have projects throughout the U.S., we’re proud to call Carson City, Nevada home. Our strong ties to the local community allow us to contribute our time and energy to areas that mean the most to us – and that’s what defines who we are at Miles.
“We truly believe in our people and our community. We strive daily to create an environment where our employees can maintain balance in their lives. We focus on what is truly important to allow people to simply be happy and productive. For us, family and our kids’ Little League games are the things that really matter.” – Bill Miles
Our team members are involved in the community because this is where we live, work and play.
We work closely with Western Nevada College, a career college with three locations throughout Northern Nevada, to help develop the curriculum for their Construction Management degree – allowing graduates to enter the workforce with exactly the real-life skills necessary to succeed. We continue our relationship with WNC by providing ongoing opportunities for students to tour work sites and to get more hands-on experience prior to graduation, preparing them for that first day in their career.
In addition to being involved with education, we partner actively in the community by serving on various boards for industry and economic development organizations.
We’re active participants with the Nevada Builders Alliance, NAIOP, Nevada Builders Association and Northern Nevada Development Association.
We’re also a Premier Partner of the Northern Nevada Development Authority (NNDA). NNDA is the state-designated Regional Development Authority (RDA) for the Sierra Region of Nevada: Carson City (state capital), Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County. Established in 1981, the organization is a Nevada domestic nonprofit corporation. NNDA helps grow and strengthen the region’s economic ecosystem and facilitates business-to-business resources to support existing businesses.
Cary Richardson, vice president and senior project manager, serves on the State Environmental Commission, is a member of the Institutional Advisory Council for WNC and is a member of the Design Construction Committee for the NNDA.
And, a little closer to our heart, we continue to support the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Nevada, an organization that Bill Miles is proud to be associated with.
We’ll continue to do our part to help build a better future for our community, because it’s not only important to our business but also important to us as residents, employees and neighbors – and it’s just the right thing to do.
