Our Nevada Roots
Since Nevada just celebrated its 156th birthday, it made us reflect on our history and our roots here in the Silver State. Our founder, Bill Miles, grew up in Carson City and is a born and raised Nevadan. For him, being Nevadan has always been a point of pride, and fellow Nevadans understand that. Bill has strong ties to the local community and contributes time and energy to areas that mean the most to him – and that’s what defines who we are at Miles.
“We truly believe in our people and our community. We strive daily to create an environment where our employees can maintain balance in their lives. We focus on what is truly important to allow people to simply be happy and productive. For us, family and our kids’ Little League games are the things that really matter.” – Bill Miles
Bill saw a chance to fill a void in the construction industry in the northern Nevada region when he founded Miles Construction in 1986, and expanded to bringing on two partners, Cary Richardson and Jerry Deines, nearly 20 years ago. Bill saw the opportunity not just for a profitable business, but a business that could really do something for the community he grew up in. Building a company that provided the expertise and resources to further assist our region’s economic growth was inspiring.
Since its inception in 1986, Miles Construction has done just that – helped our region grow by expanding businesses, buildings and employment opportunities right here in Carson City to the far reaches of our state, and even well beyond.
Beginning with the completion of the Bently world headquarters in 1999, Miles has placed a focus of sustainable building practices on our work, helping not only our clients but the environment and community continue to thrive. Today, Miles has completed award-winning projects in Nevada and throughout the western United States including the Gold LEED certified Schluter Systems, LEED Certified Belimo facility in Sparks, and the design and remodel of Patagonia’s Reno office. Miles is also responsible for the extensive structural upgrade and renovation of the historic Farmer’s Bank and Bently Heritage Distillery in Minden, Nevada.
Remaining true to our drive to support the community, we were also proud to have completed numerous school projects throughout Carson City as well as the Multi-Athletic Center. Miles and our staff have been involved in the surrounding community on multiple levels. From serving on community board to completing historic preservation projects like the Bank Saloon and Dobbins Hall in Zephyr Cove; lending a hand to our local community is part of our DNA. Miles is proud to be called on by our community whenever there is a need.
Our Nevada-based team is proud to call Nevada home, and proud to say we will continue to help shape the future of our region both economically and in quality of life for its residents.
