Miles Construction’s hospitality construction projects have included restaurants, retail centers and more.
We have partnered with The Ridge Tahoe to perform all of their capital improvement and renovation projects since 2009. The scope of the projects range from the reno- vation of over 400 rooms, club house upgrades, exterior repairs to the installation of a one of kind “inclinator”. Although the scope of the projects have varied, many factors remained the same.
All of the projects were executed while the resort was in full operation. Maintaining not only a safe environment but being invisible to guests provides challenges that are unique to each pro- ject. The short construction season at the top of the Sierras coupled with strong guest reserva- tions for the summer tourism season results in a construction window of less than 4 months. Extensive pre-planning, fabrication, staging and coordination is required to accomplish these extensive projects in such an abbreviated time frame within a fully operational facility on the top of the Sierras with limited site access.
We began renovation of the former Siena Hotel Casino in May 2016 and have since transformed it to a non-gaming Renaissance Hotel, part of the Marriott collection.
We were the general contractors for the project and remodeled the hotel's 214 hotel rooms, 15,500 square feet of convention space, lobby and public spaces. The renovation also includes the conversion of the former 17,000 square foot casino area into a restaurant and event center that featuring seven indoor bocce courts and a 9,000 square foot outdoor garden with two additional bocce courts, a dining area and private event area.
We love being part of these exciting renovation projects as they reshape downtown Reno and the perception of our community. Our team is part of this community and we appreciate the opportunity to be part of creating vibrant properties that continue to move our region forward.
On the heels of the recent purchase of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Stateline, Nevada, the new owners partnered with us to renovate the ballroom, high-limit table game areas and Center Bar and to make various improvements to the existing infrastructure.
Selecting and using local vendors is always positive for the community, and the new owners of the Hard Rock did that by taking the foundation created and making it their own using local contractors - us! We were brought on by the new ownership based on our ability to deliver on time and as promised within an operating facility. The changes that the property is undergoing are very positive. We are proud to help facilitate the further revitalization of South Lake Tahoe.
We began work on this project in October of 2016 and completed it in early December with a complete renovation of the convention center and ballroom, the Hard Rock high limit area, including the installing of new exterior stairs and replacing sections of the existing sewer and grease lines.
Northern Nevada general contractor Miles Construction has played a key role in the renovation of the former Fitzgeralds Casino and Hotel in downtown Reno.
Now known as Whitney Peak Hotel, the property is a non-smoking, non-gaming hotel that seeks to draw a recreation-minded clientele. Its fresh approach to downtown Reno includes a 164-foot climbing wall, 7,000-square-foot bouldering gym and a farm-to-table restaurant, along with a concert venue. Miles Construction served as construction manager at risk for an initial phase of remodeling. This included one model unit, 126 hotel rooms, the lobby, restaurant and concert venue.
Whitney Peak’s Chicago-based developers chose Miles after an intensive search of local and out-of-the-area contractors. The fast-track project involved working with an international team of designers and suppliers.
Miles is now working on a second phase of room renovations at Whitney Peak, which will bring the total number of renovated rooms to 340. Completion is expected in September 2015. Miles is also renovating the third floor conference level, which includes venues for weddings, meetings and banquets with space for up to 500 people.
Whitney Peak Hotel opened in mid-2014, nearly six years after Fitzgeralds closed in 2008.
