Miles Construction, a diversified northern Nevada general contractor, is partnering with Wild West Chevrolet in Yerington, Nevada to complete a 5,024 square foot addition to the dealership, including additional showroom space, a new service bay and overall updates to the look of the building. The modernized dealership will not only enhance the look of the facility but bring a new, revitalized feel to the local community. The official ground breaking event took place Friday, Oct. 21 at the dealership.
Wild West Chevrolet will remain open and fully operational throughout renovations, which are expected to be complete in March of 2017.
Bryan Tom served as Project Manager for Miles' general contracting work on the Grasso Storage units. These units were completed in December 2006 using a pre-engineered steel construction methodology. This methodology is used commonly in storage facilities around the United States as well as in other various projects that our team has done. In total, the Grasso Storage project was 31,000 square feet.
Miles Construction managed the private construction of the Sutro Self Storage facility in Carson City, Nevada. Miles President and CEO Bill Miles was the project manager on this 79,800 square foot commercial property. Completed in May 2007, our team used the pre-engineered steel methodology during the building process.
The remodel of Reno Dodge consisted of two phases—interior and exterior improvements. Both phases were accomplished while the facility remained open for business. The primary chal-lenges of this project were satisfying Dodge’s national require-ments while meeting the owner’s personal tastes and budgets. Not only did the remodel provide a fresh look for Reno Dodge with the new stainless steel elements for the exterior and the new interior showroom, but also incorporated Class A office space for the executive offices.
The Reno Dodge Import project consisted of interior and exterior remodels of the 3,500 s.f. car dealership. The interior improvements included complete renovation to the showroom and office areas with upgrades to the shop. The exterior scope included complete reworking of the façade, creation of a focal point, and addressing ADA issues.
The Lainer Terebyte Facility was completed in October 2008 with a total of 100,000 square feet. We used tilt-wall construction, an extremely cost-effective technique that primarily uses concrete during the build process. During this project, we deviated from our original scope of work and added tenant improvements to our overall scope.
Miles Construction was the private General Contractor on this Fernley, Nevada project. This commercial property was constructed in April of 2007 using a pre-cast concrete construction method. We installed a panelized roofing structure and a glass entry with a metal roof overhang as well as a cultured stone veneer on the building's exterior. In total, this structure contains 20,000 square feet.
This project was constructed utilizing reinforced concrete tilt up panels and structural steel. The exterior of the building is clad using a glass curtain wall. To conceal the structural steel components of the building, Spandrel glass panels were strategically placed to cover these structural components. The completed structure architecturally looks like a tower of glass capped by a tiled mansard roof. Some of the unique challenges in building this project were constructing and standing the large tilt-up concrete panels as well as coordinating the glass curtain wall with the structural steel interfaces.
NevDex Business Park is Reno’s largest existing suburban office park encompassing over 60,000 s.f. of Class A office space. The 65,000 s.f. commercial center currently has a varied mix of tenants and is constructed to maximize square footage to meet any potential tenant’s needs.
The Carson City Toyota Project was challenging because of the many different uses of the building from sales showroom, administrative offices, parts inventory and storage, state of the art service department, and car wash / detail center for a total of 49,000 square feet. Site development for the project included working with NDOT to modify Carson Street to allow for acceleration and deceleration at the Toyota drive entrance as well as a left turn lane. The site work included coordinating with Carson City who had a major utility and infrastructure project underway at the same time.
Structurally there were two types of construction. The Parts, Service, and Car Wash were masonry construction with a panelized wood roof structure. The Showroom and Administrative Offices was constructed with wood framing. Exterior finishes include: stucco, painted masonry, and aluminum panels.
Los Altos Crossing is a shopping Center located in Sparks NV. It consisted of completing all the site improvements and constructing (6) Shell buildings for the shopping center and (2) TI’s. The shopping center is located on Sparks Blvd and was built the same time the City of Sparks decided to upgrade Sparks Blvd creating challenges entering and exiting the job site as well as coordinating noise and construction issues with the neighbors behind the center.
